Most helpful customer reviews2 of 3 people found the following review helpful.kick-assBy Shantarathis tool rocks. it is so powerful. must be the 4-stroke.i love it better than the stihl 2-stroke trimmer i used to own.i use the metal blade in reverse for weeds so i never have to deal with the plastic string. i've actually had to turn the throttle down because it is just too powerful; (it also saves gas and doesn't explode rocks if you hit them). there are some tools that just sing when yo use them, this is one of them. i've found myself using it more and more often, even on things i could easily do by hand; it is just so sweet to use.the trigger is nice and large, for two fingers, so your index finger doesn't get tired. (this is standard on most pro-grade trimmers.)the 4-stroke engine is so nice and easy to start. just add new unleaded gas, NO OIL NEEDED! then prime it, choke it, crank it and go. it starts up right away, every time. the 2-stroke engines, where you add oil, 30:1 for example, exhaust some of the fuel when the piston compresses inside the engine, leaving a dirty, polluting machine that is not the healthiest thing to be breathing and certainly isn't very green. the 4-stroke is a more powerful engine and there's no hassle mixing, just add gas and go.makita has put a lot of quality into this tool and also has some very powerful chainsaws that equally compete with husqvarna and stihl.i truly love this tool, you will too.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.Best weedeater there is.By ssniderMakita is the best when it comes to yard maintenance. This product is light weight, easy to use, easy to start up, and best of all very quiet compared to other brands. Plus there is no need to mix oil and gas the 4- stroke engine means straight gas. KaufmanI used unit commercially one day and dropped in two feet while refueling and the whole plastic cover shattered and broke all the choke levers .Cheap plastic..Echo long ago realized that commercail housing on trimmers(etc) neeed to withstand some shock and heavy use and reinforced all their housing.Thats why they sell quite a bit of trimmers and blowers. Makita missed that basic rule. Bought this trainwreck and a makita blower at about the same time.The blower is dead and this lasted a day.And this wasnt cheaap either ! Cost alot ! Guess I have to be really gentle with this ,like holding glass ,it falls or touch it too harshly its broken. I can only imagine when i get it back the unseen problems that await.I tried this Makita 4 stroke garbage dropped almost 1000 on a blower and trimmer and the blower lasted two months now is constantly in shop ( engine wont run) and the trimmer lasted about 4 hours !Avoid or buy it and you will be in for the same fate as myself.See all 3 customer reviews...
