Most helpful customer reviews0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.good drill but poor quality controlBy Bryan SandersWe bought two of these Makita refurbished drills not knowing what to expect. We bought them for the hammer action and the depth rod which is feature omitted on DeWalt, Milwaukee, and most Bosch hammer drills. When we opened the cases we found that parts were missing, like the depth control rod, and that one of the chargers would not work. It took awhile to get the parts back and we had to mail the defective charger back to Makita. The drills now work but I would not buy a refurbished drill from Makita in the future. Power is good though not as good as with the Milwaukee 2611 or the DeWalt DCD970 hammer drills and the Makita chucks tend to blow out in less than a year of use. Some of this could be due to how they are used but we do not have the problem with the Milwaukee and DeWalt drills.Beware of the quick charging as the manual states that the batteries should have a 60 minute cool down interval after charging and should be left on the charger while this is happening. At a job the chargers will not be used in cool down operation and the result is much shorter battery life. The DeWalt batteries take longer to charge but there is no additional cooling down required and they last a lot longer which saves money.Whichever drill you buy the biggest improvement in performance comes from using modern hole cutters. We can cut holes three times as big and cut holes even in tough materials like oriented strand board and MDF or particle board in a tenth the amount of time as when we used to use bi-metal hole saws. The Blue Boar TCT Universal hole cutters will outlast a couple dozen bi-metal hole saws and because it uses less power and cuts much faster the drill battery charge lasts about 10 times as long.BLUE BOAR TSF12 12 Piece High Performance Tungsten Carbide Hole Saw kit - 2-1/4" Cut Depth. Cut 10x as fast and using 1/40th the battery power. Cordless Drills cut holes 3x as large versus bi-metal hole saws. Deep side gullets for fast plug removalSee all 1 customer reviews...
